How To Keep Your Pet Cat And Your Residence Flea Free Naturally
There are principally three things you are going to have to do to keep your feline and your home flea free during those sizzling summer months when flea infestation is likely to occur. Cat fleas are prevalent starting as soon as the climate warms up.
First you need to be sure there are totally no fleas on your cat. If you search the internet you will discover there are quiet a lot of great natural shampoo formulation for killing any and all of those blasted critters lurking in those difficult to see areas beneath your cats fur. I am not going to give formulas for natural shampoos in this specific article, but they are numerous and easy to find.
Once you've applied the shampoo you felt was the most effective for your particular pet, then you have to comb your cats fur with a fine toothed comb that you can buy at any pet store for exactly this purpose. This has to be a regular routine and not really something you only do occasionally. Although a good shampooing with natural ingredients would probably do the job, be sure and do a thorough job of combing just in case one or two survived. If you happen to trap any, immediately place them in some hot soapy water. When you're finished, flush them down the toilet. It would not be a bad idea to put on a great quality natural flea collar when you are done. In addition, be sure and wash your cat's blanket or bedding if he/she sleeps on one, at least once a week using hot soapy water, followed by high heat drying.
The next thing you have to do is make certain your home isn't infested. In the event you can afford it, have your carpet steam cleaned. This will kill pretty much any and all fleas, larvae and eggs hidden somewhere in the carpet. Make sure you thoroughly vacuum your floors and home furniture frequently. The places your cat sleeps should get just a little extra cleaning. A good trick is to put a natural flea killer, or maybe an old but still usable flea collar inside your vacuum bag to kill any fleas that the vacuum cleaner has sucked up. You may also spray some natural flea control formulas in your carpet for additional protection.
Last but not least, try to keep fleas out of your own lawn. If they aren't in the backyard they cannot enter the house. A couple of good things to do is spray with a little natural flea control spray. You can easily find the substances to use on the internet or some of the books sold for cat care. Applying nematodes to your very own garden will also help tremendously. Nematodes are little worms that eat flea eggs and larvae. There are many companies that offer nematode cultures that you can use to seed your yard.
By following these three steps natural flea control on your cat, your pet cat, your very own yard, and your home should remain virtually flea free through the entire season. It takes a little work, but in case you have ever had a flea infestation, you know it is worth the trouble.
